Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well."
— Psalm 139:14 (KJV)
Growing up in societies that judge us from the minute that we are born, it is not surprising that many people feel insecure about themselves. If these feelings aren’t dealt with, they can grow even worse over the years, and they can continue to grow if we are constantly comparing ourselves to other people. These comparisons can also cloud our minds with thoughts of how people “should be” or “should look like” that can cause us to set unrealistic expectations for ourselves. It is easy to look at what other people post and feel like we don’t measure up or that other people are better than us. These feelings are not uncommon, but we should not let these feelings consume our lives. We can use this scripture when feelings of insecurity and inferiority try to enter our minds and fill us with doubt. We were made in God’s image and God tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Everything that God makes is perfect and since God made us, that means that we are also perfectly made.
