Faith Through Grace
Peace that passes understanding
" Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
If this is the first time you are reading these verses, it might be a little confusing to hear that we need to make our requests known to God. In other passages we hear that God has a plan for our life and that he knows the end and the beginning, so using that knowledge, shouldn’t God know what we want and need? Yes, God does see our needs, but it is important for us to make our requests known unto him through prayer. The scripture also says for us to give our burdens to God and take his yoke instead because his is easy to carry. We can give our burdens to God by praying about them and placing our worries in his hands. We already know that God hears us when we pray and he answers us, which is why it is important for us to be in tune with his voice. Another advantage about making our requests known through prayer is that we can also pray for peace about the situation that we are going through. As this passage states, the peace that God gives us is beyond our understanding, and this comes in many different forms.
